NORWEGIAN SOCIETY FOR EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY STUDIES
The
Norwegian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies was founded in Trondheim on
9th October 1998. The aim of the society is to encourage within Norway, interest
and research in the eighteenth century, and the activity of the society is primarly
directed to students, research workers and other employees at the universities
and colleges. The society is associated with the International
Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
National and international reseachers are continually paying more attention to the eighteenth century. This increasing interest could be due to the formation of a modern world-view during this historical period. Thougth-forms and ideas of the eighteenth century are important because even today they structure our conceptions and our sense of reality.
You'll find more about the aim of the society in the constitution. The executive committee publish a news bulletin, and they also arrange conferences and general meetings. The society is comprised of researchers in diverse fields of study and research programmes. Do you also want to be a member?
