My main research interests are in late 17th and 18th century British literature, especially the political implications of empire, gender, and race in canonical texts. I have also written about slave narratives and contemporary popular fiction. I have directed theses on contemporary Canadian writers, various texts in 18th and 19th century British and American literature, and literary theory and postmodern fiction.
