Antonio Fábregas concentrates on the study of (mainly) Spanish morphology and why it is actually syntax. He has worked on the Exhaustive Lexicalization Principle (that is, the proposal that a syntactic feature is not licensed unless it is identified by a lexical item), on directional complements with manner of motion verbs, on the structure of nominalizations, on the syntactic principles that explain allomorphy and on some other topics that show that the internal structure of words is explainable by syntactic principles. Currently he is working on gender marking and conjugation classes in Spanish. |
