Work in Progress

My research focuses on generative phonology. The topics I am interested in are broadly the following: Variation, microvariation, cryptovariation, underlying representations, crazy rules; Optimality Theory (OT) and things OT can't do but should as well as the things OT can do but shouldn't and the way in which OT does the things it does. To gain an insight into these matters I investigate the sound patterns of English and Italian, but other languages as well.
