About

I live in Tromsø in , about 350 km inside the arctic circle, where I am pursuing a Ph.D. in linguistics at CASTL, University of Tromsø. I have also completed a doctoral program at the University of Ljubljana in 2008.

My research interests fall within theoretical phonology, particularly Optimality Theory. I am currently writing my dissertation which deals with feature spreading. I offer an account which builds on existing proposals within Autosegmental Phonology and OT. However, I crucially redefine phonological representations and constraints by focusing on previously unnoticed material. This allows for a unified analysis of all assimilation processes, including vowel, nasal, consonant harmonies, tonal spreading and consonant-vowel interaction.

Tromsø is an exciting place (to do linguistics or otherwise)! If you want to visit and stay at my place, let me know. There are two airlines with direct flights from Oslo to Tromsø, Norwegian and the SAS. Norwegian also flies directly to Tromsø from London (Gatwick). You may also want to consult CASTL's travel page.
